Craotoan national Forest, New Bern, Craven County

Croatan National Forest, located between New Bern and Emerald Isle, is home to coastal and inland swamp habitats. It has the largest collection of carnivorous plants in any national forest, and a large group of bugs to keep them alive, including mosquitoes (joy) and horseflies (even better). While visiting the forest, you can go on any of their 3 hiking trails, or go canoeing in either Great or Catfish lakes, in small streams, or in the White Oak, Neuse and Newport rivers.
